Caring for Babys Health with Baking Soda

Baking soda is a staple in almost every home. A box can be usually found tucked away under the kitchen counter, in the freezer, or along with other household baking supplies. Commonly known as a neutraliser of odours, they can contribute quite a lot to the well-being of your little one. With that being said, provided below are some ways on how you can use this product to keep your tiny tyke healthy and happy.

Baking soda is a great material to use when you want to keep an infant’s feeding implements free from germs and bacteria. The latter can be a major cause of disease among babies. In order to do this, soak feeding bottles and rubber nipples in a solution made of hot water and a few teaspoons of the powder. Alternatively, you can boil the items for five minutes after adding three tablespoons of the said substance.

Give baby a safe and secure surface to play on by cleaning up spit up spots on the rubber mat or carpet with a mixture made up of equal parts water and baking soda inside a squirt bottle. To remove stains, spray on the affected area and then blot.

Finally, fight off diaper rash by sprinkling about a quarter of a cup into your baby’s bath water. In this case, the ingredient will soothe your little one’s irritated skin and help the rash to heal by neutralising the acid in the urine. If you use cloth nappies, half a cup of baking soda in two quarts water make a great pre wash soak.
