Importance of Christening Ceremony

Various communities around the world have their own ways to mark the birth of a baby. However, in most Christian denominations, christening is very well practised. This sacrament, which is dedicated to Jesus Christ, focuses on the baptism and naming of the child. Hence, the parents of the child to be christened will have to attend a pre-ceremony counselling to understand the importance of the sacrament.

The Roman Catholic Church considers christening or baptism very essential that parents are obliged to see that their babies are baptised within the first few weeks after birth. This indicates that the Church wants everybody to receive the mercy and grace of God, and must not be refused to anyone born. Furthermore, it is believed in the Christian culture that children also need a new birth through baptism in order to be freed from the power of darkness and brought into the realm of freedom of the children of God.

If you are practising Christianity, it is very crucial that you follow the commandments of your Church. One of its great teachings is to give children their due right of baptism.
