Various communities around the world have their own ways to mark the birth of a baby. However, in most Christian denominations, christening is very well practised. This sacrament, which is dedicated to Jesus Christ, focuses on the baptism and naming of the child. Hence, the parents of the child to be christened will have to attend a pre-ceremony counselling to understand the importance of the sacrament.
The Roman Catholic Church considers christening or baptism very essential that parents are obliged to see that their babies are baptised within the first few weeks after birth.
