Society and Christening

Christening is important to a Christian society as a form of spiritual welcoming of a newborn to the world. Christian communities practise this, where a celebration is observed to commemorate the beginning of treading the path of Christianity. Many church goers believe that christening is a blessing while religious sectors believe it is a gift from a divine being. Still for others, it is a way of expressing gratitude, by making a child’s birth more official through baptising him or her.

Christening continues to hold a large amount of significance to every Christian society, as it remains a religious command to be followed and observed. Christening is expected to exist for many generations, giving meaning to human existence, generally among believers.
